Welcome to the 14th Singapore-International Physiotherapy Congress (SIPC) 2026!Message from the Congress Organising Chairperson andVice-ChairpersonDear Friends and Colleagues, Welcome to SIPC 2026! We are honoured to host a congress designed to inform, shape and transform the future of our profession, putting together leading experts in their different fields, pooling our collective strengths across sectors to benefit our clients and create a healthier nation. Our congress theme "Redefining Physiotherapy Through Sustainable and Innovative Practices", recognises the advancements our profession has made over the years. We are observing exploration of advanced scope practice with greater autonomy given to physiotherapists in public health institutions, more integration of robotics and technology in rehabilitation care to enhance complex care and accelerate recovery, and a broadening of our influence from preventive health to palliative care. At the same time, we are also mindful that traditional care models have to evolve, and new ones established to ensure the profession's continued growth and excellence in these rapidly changing times. These efforts are particularly crucial as we navigate increasingly complex care, face workforce constraints and confront new health challenges stemming from modern lifestyles, technological advancements and an aging population. Equally vital is our responsibility to embed sustainability through preventive health strategies, green clinical practices, and community-focused care. We need to act swiftly to meet escalating needs and maintain affordable and sustainable healthcare for all. Physiotherapists are uniquely positioned to address all these challenges and extend our population's healthy years through our expertise in disease prevention and management, movement science and health promotion. Our roles extend beyond treating injuries to shaping a sustainable, person-centred health ecosystem that allows people to age well, live independently and stay functionally and economically active. To achieve this, we must consider innovative and collaborative approaches that extend beyond our scope of practice, foster more interdisciplinary care models with other health professions, and transit from instructing to inspiring our clients as equal partners in attaining their rehabilitation goals through co-creation of lasting, self-managed recovery pathways. We can empower our clients to assume greater responsibilities for their own wellbeing and to support one another. Central to this evolution is professional education and lifelong learning. Through simulation-based training, interdisciplinary collaboration, and continuous professional development, we are empowering the next generation of physiotherapists to lead with confidence and creativity. SIPC 2026 is going to be both engaging and transformative. We have meticulously curated programmes and workshops that would unite physiotherapists from diverse healthcare sectors to ignite imagination and spark innovative approaches to solve real world issues. We eagerly anticipate learning from global leaders and from one another—to grow as a profession and be agents of change. Join us as we redefine physiotherapy and build healthier, more equitable communities in Singapore and beyond!
